I had a clean out of some of my oldest writing files at Christmas and found lots of snippets and writing exercises that I'd forgotten about. I turned one of those snippets into a drabble (100 word story) and it's up at The Drabble today.

In this part of the world we only have ten more hours of this year from hell, so I've been totalling up my short story stats for the year. In 2020 I submitted stories to magazines and anthologies 41 times. The results were: 6 acceptances 27 rejections 4 submissions still outstanding, and 4 more where I never got a response. Not a bad year as far as short story writing goes. The only problem is I've nearly run out of new stories, so I better get to work and write some new ones. Happy New Year,...

Apparently the French government is hiring science fiction writers to help them visualise future scenarios. The "Red Team" of writers will be part of the Defence Innovation Hub. Hopefully this doesn't mean all the best science fiction writing is going to wind up with a big classified stamp on it.
